Afua Collective is a nonprofit initiative aiming to support children and young people facing hardship in Ghana. Guided by dignity, community and joy, we aim to bring practical support and moments of happiness where they are needed. We work towards a future where a child’s circumstances do not limit their sense of belonging, wellbeing or opportunities.
Values
★ Respect
We respect the culture and each other. By being aware of cultural nuances and norms, we ensure we act in a way that respects the communities we engage with. We aim to build long-lasting relationships, and this is reflected in how we approach each project.
★ Dignity
We offer a helping hand with kindness and empathy, treating everyone as an equal. We avoid a saviour approach and offer support discreetly wherever possible, so people feel respected and comfortable receiving help.
★ Empowerment
We want to uplift people in the community. Just because someone is facing difficulties, we do not want them to feel less than anyone else. We want to remind people of the beautiful community we share and that we all belong.
★ Joy
We celebrate Ghanaian joy and want to share it with others. Even when circumstances are difficult, we aim to create moments of happiness and connection that help people feel seen, uplifted and refreshed.
Our Vision
Our vision is to grow Afua Collective to support more communities across Ghana, including young mothers and others facing hardship. Guided by community needs, we aim to address wider social barriers and aim to offer support that lasts.
Be part of something meaningful
Help our projects keep growing. We’re improving access to education through Project Aya and supporting children at an orphanage in Tema through Project Akoma. Your donation will help us continue this work in Ghana and build towards longer-term support. Explore our projects to learn how you can contribute, or get in touch if you’d like to collaborate.
